Is high brightness alone enough for sunlight readability?

No. Reflections from the cover lens and air gaps can reduce contrast even when the backlight is bright. The optical stack and ambient-light condition should be reviewed together.

Can brightness be customized on a standard module?

Often yes. Backlight changes may be possible when the electrical, thermal and mechanical limits of the module are suitable.

What should an outdoor display RFQ include?

Include the lighting condition, brightness target, cover-lens requirement, operating temperature, power limit, dimming method and enclosure drawing.
